Olga Hohmann and Jan Koslowski

Reading with singing

Tuesday, July 22, 2025, 6:00 PM

Theater director Jan Koslowski and Rheinsberg's resident writer Olga Hohmann present an evening of texts and music. The focus here is on the apparent discrepancy between city and country, and the differences between the scenic quality of the city and the urban quality of the countryside. The theme of friendship also resonates.

In his well-known novella, Tucholsky already considered the journey to Rheinsberg as part of the country outing associated with "summer holidays." Both artists equally perceive being on the move as something special—driven by the impossible longing to arrive somewhere.

They alternate reading texts. In assigned roles, they read theatrical dialogues. There are singing interludes.

Jan Koslowski and Olga Hohmann have been working together since 2020. Both create performances and prose, which they have published with the Berlin-based Korbinian Verlag.

In 2023, Jan Koslowski organized a festival at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, in which Olga Hohmann participated as a performer, author, and actress. In 2024, the two spent a residency in the mountains, where they realized the performance "Toxic Gifts." This is currently being translated into a publication, which will be published in fall 2025.

Tickets 7 euros/5 euros | Reservations at mail@tucholsky-museum.de

The Kurt Tucholsky Literature Museum is supported by the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district and the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture. The sponsor is the city of Rheinsberg.

Alfred Wegener Museum

Since 2009 the Alfred Wegener Museum in Zechlinerhütte belongs to our department.
As a child Alfred Wegener (1880-1930) spent his vacations there. He was a "Viking of science" who wanted to discover the secrets of nature with his own observations. He founded the theory of plate tectonics and undertook four trips to the polar region. He died during his great Greenland expedition in 1930.
The museum presents the life of the researcher and raises awareness of questions about climate change.

We stand with Israel

Kurt Tucholsky was of Jewish descent. The museum has been working on Jewish topics for over 30 years, has researched and documented the life of Tucholsky's friend Else Weil, who was murdered in Auschwitz, has been working with the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk for years, initiated the laying of stumbling blocks in Rheinsberg and much more – a clear commitment to the right to exist of Jews and the State of Israel is important to us as part of our own cultural identity.
