The Museum
Literature is on paper; it requires readers that deal with it. The Literature Museum has set itself the goal of making the encounter with literature and its author a real experience. We don’t regard Kurt Tucholsky as a statue on a marble pedestal. We listen to him, let him inspire us, are sometimes astonished at how farseeing he was, and see his limits. The Literature Museum cordially invites visitors to become a “reading tourist”, plunge into Kurt Tucholsky’s world of writing, and approach the author and his time.
From april 1st 1993 to march 31st 2024 the museum was directed by Dr. Peter Böthig.

30 years of Kurt Tucholsky Literature Museum - A stroll through the museum
Since we could not celebrate publicly the 30th anniversary of the opening of the museum on April 27th 2021, we have prepared a small online exhibition (german document) together with the Brandenburg Museums Association, which offers a foray through the history and everyday life of the museum in thirty short chapters.
