Inaugural Tucholsky Literature Festival (September 18–20, 2026) in Rheinsberg
Concert / Readings / Theater: Kurt Tucholsky Literature Museum hosts a diverse program
The inaugural Tucholsky Literature Festival, organized by the Kurt Tucholsky Literature Museum, will take place in Rheinsberg from September 18 to 20, 2026. Anna Thalbach and Robert Stadlober will open the festival on Friday evening (Sept. 18) with a Tucholsky Gala at the Rheinsberg Palace Theater. The event is supported by Musikkultur Rheinsberg gGmbH.
On Saturday (Sept. 19), numerous readings and events will be held at various locations throughout Rheinsberg, running from morning until evening. Readers will include Jens Bisky, Daniela Dröscher, Paula Fürstenberg, Heike Geißler, Meike Rötzer, and Carolin Würfel. Actor Peter Miklusz will present "Feldgrauer Kongress" (Field-Grey Congress), a theater piece inspired by Tucholsky’s texts that advocates against war.
A literary matinee with Christoph Hein at the Palace Theater will conclude the festival on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 20).
Contributors to the diverse festival program include the Brandenburg Literature Council and the Brandenburg Literature Office. The Kurt Tucholsky Society is also participating with an event of its own.
Local stakeholders are involved as well; for instance, the operators of the Seepavillon Rheinsberg are making their lakeside venue available as a central hub. During the festival, the pavilion will transform into a meeting place for visitors interested in literature. It will house the ticket center and a book stall, and will host readings alongside food and beverage services.
The literature festival is made possible largely through financial support from the district of Ostprignitz-Ruppin and the town of Rheinsberg. The festival's media partners are RBB radio 1 and radio 3, as well as the *Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung* (MAZ).
