Cultural education

Creative writing

"Eyes on eyes closed", "Setting out", "Homeland dreams" were titles of writing workshops. Together with the DGB youth education center in Flecken Zechlin, we have been organizing a creative week for many years. In addition to the writing process, the students made woodcuts with the artist Ralf Hentrich (1965 - 2018). The result is their own artist book with texts and graphics.

MIXED UP!

Since 2013 we are also connected to the Evangelisches Gymnasium Neuruppin by a cooperation. Pupils in the 11th grade work with us on a scientific or artistic project in the subject "Seminar Course". We were able to present two gallery windows and a film to the public.
In 2015 we were even among the 52 finalists in the nationwide competition MIXED UP!

Audio-Guides

Since spring 2010, it has been possible to take an audio-guide tour of the museum. This allows our guests to customize their visit to the exhibition. The short audio texts can be selected independently. This allows for more in-depth information on special exhibits, oriented on the interest of the visitors.

Special Events

A literature competition and a "literary-culinary menu in 3 courses" with Titus Giese, Wiglaf Droste and Peter Böthig also met with great applause.

We are in charge of the "Long Night of the Arts" in Rheinsberg, which regularly takes place on the first Saturday in November.

Guiding principle of the museum

At the center of our work is collecting, preserving, researching, and presenting materials on the life and work of Kurt Tucholsky.
In accordance with our social task, we work actively with Tucholsky as a model for the spirit of tolerance and understanding.
By focusing on Kurt Tucholsky and the literary publications of the Weimar Republic, we place ourselves in the Enlightenment and democratic tradition that addresses the intellectual standards and everyday problems of modern humanity. The guideline of our activity is always the international ICOM code of ethnics for museums.

We stand with Israel

Kurt Tucholsky was of Jewish descent. The museum has been working on Jewish topics for over 30 years, has researched and documented the life of Tucholsky's friend Else Weil, who was murdered in Auschwitz, has been working with the Ernst Ludwig Ehrlich Studienwerk for years, initiated the laying of stumbling blocks in Rheinsberg and much more – a clear commitment to the right to exist of Jews and the State of Israel is important to us as part of our own cultural identity.
